Frozen February, Business Wins & Travel Dreams

Frozen Feb

I have two February babies who are 2 years and 1 week apart, so it was quite the chaotic month with birthdays and a joint Frozen-themed party. So, I’m just going to let it go…

TT Meets Theo at The SBS 2025 Event

TT was recently recognised by ex-Dragon Theo Paphitis through his SBS community! I attended their annual SBS networking event in Birmingham, where I got to meet the main man himself and receive my certificate - which was such a great experience.

The day was jam-packed with a fantastic lineup of entrepreneurs and inspirational speakers, with lots of takeaways. Safe to say, I have a long to-do list!

The lineup included:

Imran Hakim – One of the first entrepreneurs Theo invested in with iTeddy. He now owns The Hakim Group, which operates a large collective of opticians.

Jo Tutchener Sharp – CEO and founder of Scamp & Dude. Originally a women’s fashion brand, it started after Jo spent a lengthy stay in hospital undergoing life-saving brain surgery, separated from her children. She created a brand that helps children feel more secure, filling them with ‘superpowers’ when apart from loved ones. Her signature lightning bolt design features on all her clothes, and for every cuddly toy bought, one is gifted to a child in need. They’ve also launched a women’s scarf, gifting one to a woman starting chemotherapy for each purchase - a cause that struck a chord with me after learning that someone very close to me has breast cancer. Such an amazing business!

Richard Harpin – Founder and CEO of Homeserve, an international home repairs and improvements business he just sold for billions. His talk was a great reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t always about inventing something new - it’s about solving a problem. That resonated with me, as it’s exactly how the Trek Tots™ Play Mat came to life! My husband, an ex-army man, already had a lightweight compact sleeping mat, which we used during a holiday after struggling to find a travel play mat. From there, I worked out what features needed tweaking to balance practicality with ease of use - and that was the start of our play mat journey!

There were also great breakout sessions, including one on SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) - such a big topic, but I picked up valuable insights to implement with TT.

Of course, the highlight was meeting Theo himself. He was incredibly down-to-earth, and we had a great little chat before getting our snap with my certificate. It was such a fantastic event, and I can’t wait to attend next year at a different stage in my journey, with fresh takeaways.

TT Travels with Our Tots

Is it just us, or does it feel like spring has almost sprung? The lighter evenings and crisp sunny days have me planning our next getaways. Here are some tried-and-tested family-friendly trip ideas:

  1. Center Parcs – We’ve been to Elveden, but this year we’re trying Woburn for a change. No matter the weather, there’s so much to do with kids—from the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and Mini Trek to Teddy Bear Making and Baking. We love that you can bring bikes, scooters, and walk everywhere!
  2. Camping – Growing up in Africa, I camped so much as a child, and I’d love to share that experience with my kids. Still deciding on a location, but we’ll likely stay somewhere close to home—just in case it doesn’t go to plan!
  3. All-Inclusive Getaway – We aim to do one of these a year. It’s a proper break—no tidying, no cooking! We’re deciding between Greece and Crete this year. We love Tui Sensatori resorts for their premium-level accommodations, kids’ clubs, transport arrangements, and (most importantly) water parks! With little ones, finding a place that just works is a no-brainer.
  4. Road Trip – Packing light is a challenge with kids, but we love road trips because we can bring all our essentials—including our trusty Trek Tots™ Play Mat! No worrying about tantrums on a plane, and we can pull over for loo or play breaks whenever needed. We also caved and bought a roof box—total game changer!

TT's Parenting Hack for Feb: Mess-Free Snack Time

Snack time with tots can often turn into chaos, but we love the Munchkin Snack Containers to keep things mess-free! These cleverly designed containers make it easy for little hands to grab snacks without spills. The soft, flexible flaps allow tots to reach inside while keeping snacks securely contained—reducing the stress and mess of snack time.

Perfect for on-the-go or at home, this simple tool makes feeding time smoother for both parents and little ones. Pair it with the Trek Tots™ Play Mat for a truly stress-free, mess-free parenting experience.

Trek Tots Toast: Claire Lacey Photography

As a fellow small business owner, I love supporting other small businesses that are working hard behind the scenes. This month, I want to toast a friend and fellow Sevenoaks mum, Claire, who is a creative genius at capturing those gorgeous moments between parents and their kids.

When they’re little, time flies, and having beautiful photos of tiny hands and feet is just the best! Claire specialises in maternity, newborn, and family documentary-style photography across Kent, London, Surrey, and beyond.
